Adult Day Programs provide interesting activities in the community for people with physical or cognitive challenges, as well as people with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The program offers a great opportunity for new friendships and fun.
Activities offered include; exercise programs, group discussions and reminiscing, crafts, bus outings, special meals, entertainment, health education, and gardening programs.
Sunset Lodge currently runs 3 Adult Day Programs within the Greater Victoria Area including a 4 hour evening program running 3 days a week.
Intake Criteria
Adult day services are suitable if the person has been assessed as requiring supports and health care services, and/or respite for the caregiver, through a clinical assessment conducted by a case manager through the Island Health Authority. Once an assessment has been completed a referral will be sent to the Sunset Lodge ADP Coordinator. Admission to the Sunset Lodge Adult Day Program will take place if the following criteria are met:
- The client is able to independently manage their personal care while at the Adult Day Program.
- The client is able to independently administer their own medications while at the Adult Day Program.
- The client is open and willing to participate in the recreational and social services provided at the Adult Day Program.
