Update for the week May 2-May 8

Hello Everyone,

I’m happy to share that Sunset Lodge remains COVID free!

If you have been watching the news you will know that the province is starting to slowly loosen a few restrictions.  Unfortunately, the loosened restrictions do not apply to Long Term Care at this time.  Island Health has not lifted the visiting restrictions for Sunset Lodge or any other long term care facility. This means we must remain patient for a little while longer before we can start looking at having visiting restrictions lifted. We know this is very hard on everyone but we must follow the  directives given by Island Health and least we are now headed in the right direction.

Mother’s Day is this Sunday and I know it will be an especially difficult one for many of you as you will not be able to access the facility and see your moms, sisters, and wives. However, I must emphasize again that you do not try to come in and see your loved ones on Sunday or any other day until the restrictions are lifted.  So far, we are beating this virus and keeping it away from your loved ones and we want to keep on that path so you can be together soon!

The staff will be doing their very best to make Mother’s Day as special as possible for our residents. The Activity Department will be going around to all the residents with an “sundae cart” so everyone can make their own Sundaes and enjoy a lovely sweet treat on Mother’s Day.  The Activity Department have also been working with a number of our residents making lovely handmade planters with real plants in them for our moms-I have attached a photo.

I know that Thomas has booked many skype visits and phone calls for those of you that have called or emailed him to set up and appointment. Remember, you can also send in letters and email and we will make sure your loved one gets them.

Sunset Lodge wishes all of you who are mother’s a very heartfelt Happy Mother’s Day and much peace, health and happiness!

-Loretta
